Preparing for Graduation
All graduation application packets MUST be turned in to the appropriate Academic Administrative Specialist by:
- Spring Degree Candidates (May Graduation): October 31
- Fall Degree Candidates (December Graduation): April 30
- Summer Degree Candidates*: October 31
- * There is NO commencement ceremony in the summer. You must fill out a Summer Graduate Commencement Participation Contract to select participation in either the May ceremony before or the December ceremony after you complete degree requirements in the summer.
These deadlines are strictly enforced.
Graduate students must go to Graduate Education and Research for graduation procedures.
To apply for Graduation:
- Schedule an appointment with the Academic Administrative Specialist in your major, prior to the application deadline to initiate the process and receive application packet.
- Resolve any exceptions on your CARES report.
All exceptions to the CARES report must include a College Exception Form with written approval from the student's advisor and the department chair. These forms should be brought to the Academic Specialist once the required signatures have been obtained. - Inform Academic Admin. Specialist of any name, address, phone, or e-mail changes.
- Complete graduation packet and return it to your Academic Admin. Specialist by the application deadline.
- Check your e-mail regularly as any problems with this process are communicated through your EKU e-mail address
- A $20.00 application fee will be billed to your EKU account to cover the cost of Cap, gown, diploma, and diploma cover
- Once application has been processed and your date of graduation approaches, you will receive information from the Registrar's Office regarding GRADFEST.
(GRADFEST supplies such information as to when/where to pick up cap & gown, ordering invitation, etc.)
